Details: A delightful example of a Gandhara stucco head of the Buddha Sakyamuni. The Buddha has a meditative face with arched eyebrows over swollen heavy lidded eyes set above an aquiline nose and a broad well-modeled mouth. His hair is delicately arranged in layered rows over the usnisha which is partially damaged. Age: 3rd to 4th Century Height: 13.5 cm (Base not included in the measurement). Width: 7 cm (Across the forehead). Remarks: There is some wear on the right hand side of the face and nose as well as some partial damage of the usnisha, as seen in the photos. There has been no restoration on this piece, it is an untouched piece in honest condition. |
