Details: A rare example of an early Chinese Shang bronze wine vessel or jue. Its rarity is due to its having only one post instead of the usual two and its being designed for left handed use not right handed use. It also has two characters on the vessel inside the handle that translate to the name of a royal family of one of the warring states. The piece looks elegant with its long spout and its central band of designs. It is standing on three straight, triangular-section legs and has an olive-green patina with some patches of encrustation. Age: Early Shang Dynasty 1523-1027 BC Height: 21 cm Remarks: As can be seen in the photos there is a hole in the base of the vessel. |
