Details: A classic example of a large 18th century Tibetan gilt copper repousse seated portrait of a monk, possibly the first Panchan Lama. His holiness is seated on a double mattress throne with his right hand in Vitarka mudra and his left resting on his lap in Dhyana mudra. He is clad in the long flowing robes of a monk and wears traditional monastic boots. His well painted face is flanked by large prominent ears that could indicate along with the mudras that this is a portrait of the first Panchan Lama, who in the 18th century was often modelled with large ears and his hands in these mudras. Age: 18th Century. Height: 39 cm.
